eBay Fee Calculator
Work out eBay's final value fee, per-order fee, and insertion costs — and what is actually left after them.
On a $25 item with $6 of shipping — a $31 order — eBay takes $4.62: 13.6% of the whole order including the shipping the buyer pays, plus the $0.40 per-order fee that applies above $10. That is a 14.9% take rate, and listings stay free until you pass 250 a month.

Ad economics
An order can pay at most its contribution — revenue after fees and variable costs — to win a customer. Spend more than that and the order is bought at a loss.
You can pay up to $13.38 per order in ads and still break even — currently $0.00.
How eBay fees work
eBay's fee structure is simpler than Amazon's and less forgiving than it looks. There is no monthly subscription unless you want a Store, but the final value fee applies to the entire amount the buyer pays — item, handling, and shipping — and a flat per-order fee sits on top of it.
For most categories that means 13.6% of the order plus $0.40, and a category change can move the rate a long way: books, movies and music are 15.3%, jewellery and watches are 15% up to $5,000, and athletic shoes over $150 drop to 8% with no per-order fee at all. Insertion fees only bite once you pass 250 listings a month, which is why high-volume sellers with slow inventory feel them and casual sellers never do.
Enter your price, the shipping you charge, and your costs to see the fee stack and what is left. The calculator also solves the price you would need for a target margin, and shows how many orders a month cover your Store subscription and insertion fees.
